S-s-s-occer, anyone?

Not our game, but another game in Colorado Friday night.  US vs. Costa Rico

Saturday in Durango was about 22 degrees.  It was 7:30 am.  The wind chill was probably closer to 10 or 15 degrees.  Joseph got out of the car to start warm ups.  It was cold, the wind was freezing.  We found a building to hide behind to block the wind to watch the game. The other kids sat in the car after venturing out in the cold long enough (about 4 minutes) to know that sitting in the car was better.

Welcome to Spring Soccer in Southwest Colorado.  The team played great despite the cold. They played some of their best soccer yet.  After breakfast in a warm spot, we had another game at 11:45.  It had clouded over, snowflakes flurried a bit, the wind continued to bite. We hid in the wind block of the same building.  Joseph wore his coat under his uniform without complaining (he finally admitted he was cold).  Another good game (first half was so-so, second half was great).  We were so thrilled to get back in the car and get warm!

Here's hoping that our next games will be a bit warmer.  Luckily, soccer for the four younger kids doesn't start until April 8.  Maybe the warm weather will be here to stay.  Look out Tricity soccer!  Courtney and Grace are playing on the new Purple U6 team together with mom coaching Tuesdays and Thursdays.  On Mondays and Wednesdays Caroline is playing U4 Blue and Alex is Neon Green U8 with mom coach him too .  Joseph practices on T/TH.  Soccer from 5:30 to 6:30 M-TH and Joseph's games on Saturday.  Plus somehow get Alex to Cub Scouts at 6 pm on Tuesdays?  I am going to need the crockpot every night for the month of April!

Soccer anyone?
