Sand Dune Arch and Sand Sledding

Sand Dune Arch--Arches National Park

We took Masha to visit her second arch, Sand Dune Arch, on July 6. She saw lots of other arches from the road, but this is the only one we hiked to that day.  It has lots of sand and the kids loved hiking all over the rocks around the arch.

My climbing boy! "If I could climb every day really high, it would be the best.  I like climbing best and then soccer.  Can I be on a climbing team instead of soccer?"  We'll have to look for one of those.

Caroline enjoyed playing in the sand more than anything.

There is a giant sand hill across from the entrance to Arches. We were told it was fun to sand sled there.  We went and tried it out. It didn't work too well with our saucer and longer sled. We've since done some re-con and have been told that cardboard works best.  We'll have to try it out. 

Alex had the best luck sledding on a really steep part that hadn't been walked on.  Maybe sledding right after rain would be good.  Everyone had fun hiking the hill and playing in the sand.
