West Fork of Dolores River

Near Geyser Spring Trail head

West Fork of Dolores River
We went on an adventure to check out the West Fork of the Dolores River. We wanted to hike to Geyser Springs, but the water was too high to cross the river and make the hike.  We had a beautiful drive and fun time hiking around and playing in the river. We live in a beautiful part of the world.

Alex and Joseph stand in front of the rocks we were supposed to cross to make the hike to Geyser Springs.  River is still a little high.  We'll have to come back later in the summer.

Caroline gets a lift from Joseph.
The best part of the trip was throwing rocks in the river.

Action shot of Courtney.

The road over the top on the way home was rather steep and narrow.  Notice the river at the bottom of the canyon.  It was only 9 miles back to the highway, but what nine miles it was!

Rico Court House.
We made a loop and came home through the town of Rico.  It's about 30 miles from Dolores.  Some of the kids who live in Rico attend our schools.  We had yummy ice cream at a cafe in Rico.
Mountains behind Rico.
