Swimming at the YMCA

Caroline's first dip!
We joined the YMCA last night. We decided that the kids would need some fun indoor activity with the cold weather outside. We found just what we were looking for in our YMCA. The leisure pool is awesome!!! It includes a 3 story water slide (Kirill did it about 20 times and Matt and I even had a few rides. Alex is too scared.), a lazy river, a vortex pool, and a huge "toy" that squirts, dumps buckets and lets you turn the wheels to control it. The best part is that the girls can reach in a large part of the pool, and Alex has an area where he can swim underwater and learn to swim (it's about 3 feet).

The kids had a great time, and Caroline enjoyed her first real swim. We're looking forward to checking out the 3 story climbing wall(really walls--its huge and they have harnesses and everything) and the kids room (2 hours of babysitting free each day while I work out:)!!!) Do they really mean that for 5 kids? Will I ever work out for two hours? I'm thinking about dropping everyone off for 30-45 min while I work out and then we'll all swim or maybe Caroline will stay in the kids room while the "big" kids swim/climb? I'll have to report back.

We had a great day yesterday with Daddy home for Veteran's Day. We love banking holidays--too bad there aren't more:( Daddy had a great time taking Kirill to school and then he and Alex joined Kirill for lunch before he took Alex to school. Matt is finished up his MBA with the University of Phoenix so he had school work to do yesterday, but he finished so we could all go swimming. Matt likes that the YMCA has a fireplace. After swimming, the very tired kids all went to bed, and Matt and I enjoyed dinner and a Carolina basketball game. The Heels are 2-0 and we're 2-0 on watching (Matt is worried about finding the games on TV, but we've been lucky so far.)

Random pictures of the kids from the past week. 4/5 together, Alex dressed for school with tie and chocolate moustache and Gracie after eating lasagna...It took lots of OxyClean and 3 washes to get the clothes clean. She's eating naked next time we have lasagna.

  1. Two hours of childcare is great - my gym has that. Go ahead and get a shower while you're at it. =) Love the lasagna!
