Bike Auction!

Today we went to the bike auction at the local police department. They were auctioning off all of the unclaimed "lost" bikes. We were hoping to get lucky and get a bike for Kirill since he has outgrown his bike. We were very lucky and Kirill got not only 1, but 2 bikes, Matt and I got a new bike(so now we have 2 grown up bikes) and Alex got a Razor scooter(and Kirill's old bike + training wheels:)

Kirill got two bikes because we bought the first one(black and yellow) for $15 because we were worried that the other bike would get bid up too high for us to buy it. Lucky for him, we got the 2nd one (blue and silver) for just $30. The most important part about the blue and silver bike, according to Kirill, is that it has gears. He really, really wanted a bike with gears. It's a bit big, but we didn't know when the next auction would be and thought he could ride it in the spring, but he couldn't wait. He and Matt rode home on their two new bikes.

Here are our new bikes. They've been riding all day, and I got to go on a long ride with Alex and a "super-long" ride with Kirill. Alex doesn't like "super-long" rides because his legs just get too tired (maybe because he rides his bike in yellow boots--sorry no pictures of this today). We love our town because it has an awesome bike path and it is very bike friendly.

If the camera is out, Courtney wants to have her picture taken. Kirill told Courtney that she and Grace could have this "scooter" now that Alex has a new scooter.

Alex is all decked out to ride his scooter with adult knee and elbow pads. He's crashed a few times, but is getting better. We're hoping it will help with his balance and he can learn to ride his bike without training wheels.

  2. What a deal! I need to check to see if Beaumont does something like that. Now you can go on family rides to church...not! Glad Kirill likes his "Gear" bike. Daniel got a new one with gears and he loves it too. They are growing up on us.
