5th Grade Tea and Track Meet

Joseph and his 5th grade teacher, Mr. Kevin Vaughn

Each year the PTA hosts a tea for the "graduating" 5th graders and their parents.  It was a really neat event. The guidance counselor, Mrs. Finch, makes a slide show with pictures of the kids from kindergarten to preschool and gives each kid a copy.  It was a neat event for all of the kids, teachers and families.

Mom and Joseph.  Isn't he a handsome boy?

Joseph getting ready to run the mile.  He finished in 7:38.  Not bad at all for his first mile race. I was so proud of him!

All of the Dolores kids who are running the mile pose together.  The day after the tea was the district 4th and 5th grade track meet.  All of the elementary schools in our county come together for this day-long track meet.  Each kid gets to participate in a minimum of 3 events.  Joseph did the mile (open to all but you have to be able to run it in under 10 minutes), 75 yd dash (7th), shuttle relay (3rd) and 400 m relay (1st).  I was a volunteer at the school table and had a chance to get good pictures on the field.  My friend Elizabeth watched all three girls all day long so it was a vacation for me!
