Bookending January!

Our house with some of our snow.
Didn't want to let January get away without a second post:)  It's been a regularly scheduled month...that means busy.  Scouts on Tuesday night, Joseph has basketball practice Wed and Thurs nights and games on Saturday. The past week the girls have had PeeWee Cheerleading camp every day from 4-5pm.  Throw in 3-4 meetings or volunteer opportunities for the school and voila!  our fun, busy, active life. I wouldn't have it any other way, but here is a list of highlights for the month
    • Joseph earned his Webelos award in Scouts and has only one activity badge left to finish up before he earns his Arrow of Light.
    • Alex got his first Pinewood Derby Car!  That means we'll be doing two cars this year. The Derby is the first week in March!  So lucky for us since Alex will turn 8 on Feb 22 and be able to join the Cub Scouts right before the Derby.
    • Alex will be baptized on February 23. We've been busily planning his baptism and his birthday.  He wants to take some friends ice skating.
    • I made Alex an awesome (if I don't say so myself) photo book for his birthday complete with 8 years of Christmases, birthdays, houses, first days of school, soccer seasons and such.  It was fun to look back at ALL the pictures I've taken and I'm glad that most of it was digital.
    • Caroline, Courtney and Grace are all enjoying preschool.  Alex is coming home with quite a few 100% papers, and Joseph has had some 90s, great penmanship and has been trying to work a lot harder.
    • We have had A LOT snow and cold. It is definitely winter!   It got down to -15 for a few nights and the high for the month has been 45.  We've been praying for water and we've received quite a bit.
    • Our school won a state grant to match a local bond that passed in November. I've been serving on the committee to help choose the architects, owner's reps and work on the design. It's been interesting to learn about these areas.
    • For two weeks, Matt had a rental car while his truck was getting fixed from the massive deer that he hit in December.  Caroline and I had nice trips to Durango take and return the rental car and drop the truck off at the repair site.

Caroline showing off our fun color mixing lesson.  Notice her Sunbeam chair behind her.  She got this from a breakfast for new Sunbeams (her class at church) and won't take it off her chair OR let anyone else sit there.
