Rick and Lynne's Farewell

We went to Morgan for the missionary farewell for my parents. It was wonderful to be with all of the family. The reunion on Saturday and a gathering on Sunday after church ensured that we saw most of the extended family on both sides. My dad's three brothers, Gary, Jeff, and Tony, were all together and all of Jeff and Tony's kids were there except Blake. It was great to see my London cousins after seeing all of my other cousins that day before. Mom and Dad did a great job speaking on the atonement at church. They focused on the fact that we all need Jesus Christ's redeeming love and grace to return to Him, we can't save ourselves. At the end of the meeting, Elder Fisher, an Area Authority Seventy, stood up and said a few words. He talked about how my Grandpa London spoke at his grandfather's funeral and how impressed he was as a teen at his words and then he mentioned that he was certain that my dad's parents as well as my mom's parents and Grandpa and Grandma Wiscombe were all rejoicing this day as my mom and dad prepared to set out for their mission.  It was a wonderful meeting!  I cried though most of it and Joseph kept asking why I was crying.  We had dinner and visiting after church at my parents' house. I think there were over 100 people for dinner(unfortunately I did not take pictures, especially the picture of the four London brothers on the hammock! since I was busy helping with the food, wrangling kids and talking to my relatives, probably in reverse order:)  That evening my parents were set apart as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to serve in the Helsinki Finland Temple.  It was an amazing spiritual experience to be at the setting apart.  What a great day!

Caroline enjoyed the wiggle car. They have a fleet of them now so the kids don't have to fight over them.

Mom, Jen Whimpey Erickson, Rachelle and Dave

Beck Erickson, Jen's son.  He is 12 days older than Caroline.  We're really hoping for a marriage match between them or any of our children. Jen and I have always wanted to unite our families.  She has two boys and two girls and I have two boys and three girls so maybe we can work something out. We were joking about making sure we got together often enough so the kids knew each other, but no so often that they thought they were related:)

Jen and Liisa
I think I posted earlier this year about how Jen and I have been friend for over 35 years!  That means we're old. She'll turn 40 this year too, just 15 days after I do.   It was so nice of her and Lance to bring their family up for the day.
