Saturday we went hiking. We checked out a new place, Ken's Lake (the lake isn't much too look at, but the rocks behind it are great!), and returned to an old favorite, Wilson's Arch. Joseph had requested to be able to "climb up high, climb really big rocks." He got his wish and isn't in hardly any pictures because he didn't stop moving the entire day! What a great day we had! And to top it off, Matt got to have his very first Navajo Taco that evening as we attended a benefit dinner for a local teenager.
Alex loves to pose for pictures.
Courtney and Grace exploring a narrow spot.
Joseph is the maroon spot in the center of the picture. Grace and Courtney are sitting at the base of another balanced rock formation.
Everyone loves Wilson's Arch. It's right off the road and an easy hike up. Everyone made it up to the top.
Matt and Caroline hiking up. It wasn't super cold, but the wind made it chilly.
Sitting in the arch. What a great group of kids!
Alex and Courtney posed this shot for me. Grace didn't really want to participate. Joseph and Alex played mountain lions on the mountain for a long time. They love the caves, rocks and hills.
After the arch, we drove to through LaSal, a town in the mountains, to the Colorado border. It was only 14 miles out of our way, but the road was VERY windy. We loved this sign.
Returning to Utah!
Joseph wanted us to stop right at the sign so Matt and I in the front seat would be in Utah and the back of the car would still be in Colorado. He really enjoyed himself. He said, "I wish I could wake up tomorrow and do this entire day over and then wake up the next day and do it again." Maybe we should introduce him to the movie "Groundhog Day."

Looks like you guys had so much fun! I loved that you stopped right at the sign to split the car.
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget climbing on EVERY rock at the zoo with you guys! One day Joeseph will be a world renowned rock climber/adventurist.
