Snow

We've had a lot of fun in the snow the past few weeks. We had a big storm on New Year's Eve, and it's probably 2 feet deep around our house. Matt joked that he never thought he'd see that day that he'd go to my parents' house to "get out of the snow." Sorry for the light on some of the pictures. It's hard to get a good picture when it's overcast. I couldn't make the flash work. And I don't have a picture of the huge snow fort the kids build with their cousins and uncles. It was almost as tall as me.
Kirill and Alex in front of our house a few days before Christmas. We have twice the snow now.

Alex poses in the snow at my parents' house.

Alex prepares to go down the smaller hill. Thanks to Grandpa and Uncle Ryan for building the sledding runs. For this one, they packed snow against the steps. They decided it was too small and so they build a bigger one to the right. They put a table up against the deck and blew snow onto it with the snow blower and packed it in and then iced it with water. Ryan was a very dutiful groomer and kept the runs in excellent condition. The kids loved it so much.

Alex braves the bigger hill. By the end of the week, it had three jumps and extended almost all the way across the yard. The only hard part was getting on the sled at the top. The "loading" platform was a bit of a challenge.
Caroline loves to watch the kids play in the snow.

It's never too cold or snowy to swing!

Gracie helping Grandpa take Kirill and Courtney on a ride around the field.

The mighty cousin sledding crew: Alex, Brinlee, Parker, Kirill and Liam (in front).
They would sled for 3 hours at a time in the cold.

  1. Isn't it great to see the traditions we did now carried out by the children?
