Trip to Utah

We went to Utah for Fall Break. I've been absent from blogging while getting ready, traveling, and then unpacking. We had lots of fun with our family. Kirill and Alex love to play with their cousins. All of the family, except the East Coasters (not us anymore. We missed you Heather and Mike!) ended up at my mom and dad's house on Sat and Sun for General Conference. It is so much fun to spend time with my brothers and sisters.

Kirill with Jackson (Rachelle and Dave's son). His adoption was finalized last weekend and he'll be sealed to them on Oct 17! Congrats to them!
Kensi (Mark and Jessica's daughter), Courtney and Caroline. Kensi was trying to hold Caroline, but Courtney was very jealous/worried anytime anyone "new" held her "Bay-BEE" and had to be a part of it.

Kirill, Alex and Londyn at the Dinosaur Park.

Sign on picture speaks for itself!

Grandpa throwing a snowball at the boys at the top of Emigration Canyon on the way home from the zoo. Brigham Young stood here and said, "This is the Place" when the pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley back in 1847.

Fall snowfall! Taken on the Pioneer Trail (Emigration Canyon) in Utah.

Alex, Kirill and Londyn (my sister Becca's daugther) at the zoo.

The kids loved posing on all of the bronze statues. Some day I want to make a park full of statues of animals and different shapes just for kids to climb on. And lots of waterfalls and water to play in as well. And railings to climb on, and steps to play on, rocks to climb, ramps to run up and down, escalators to play on, elevators to just ride and push buttons on, flowers to pick and smell(not just look at), and food to eat and get very messy eating it and playing at the park. Maybe we could just have disposable clothes the kids could change in to as they enter the park and there would be no worries for moms and dads (except the usual falls and scrapes). It sounds awesome to me! I'd pay to go there, wouldn't you?

The zoo was bursting with baby animals. The baby elephant was SO, SO cute! He was just born in July or August. Poor mama elephant was pregnant for 22 months!

Our group was bursting with babies! Here are the 4 youngest in our group, Irelynd, Caroline, Gracie and Courtney. Thanks to Grandpa for coming to the zoo and helping out. Becca and Phill had their two girls and I had my 5 kids so an extra adult was very helpful. It was a little chilly to begin the trip, but a great day at the zoo.

We went to the zoo, the dinosaur park, played outside, shopped and rode bikes. We ate a lot and slept a lot less than usual, but everyone had a great time. The first night we arrived it had snowed in the mountains and when the boys woke up the next morning, Alex, after seeing snow on the mountain tops and a thin layer of ice on the deck, asked where my mom was. I told him that she was at school, she had to work. "What is she doing at school with all this snow and ice and freezing weather?" he asked. Can you guess where he grew up? Today the boys went to school and we had 7 inches of snow! It's a re-education process for them.

  1. Hey, Liisa! Remember me? (I'm Marian's sister.) I just had to tell you a story related to school and snow...

When my Mom moved here to NC, she moved here in December. Within the first month or so, she woke up one day and sent her kids out to the bus stop, as usual. In a little while, her neighbor called. "There's no school today because of the snow." "What snow?" my Mom wanted to know. There had been snow in the northern part of the county, but even though there was none by our house we were still out of school!

I now have my kids in the same county school system, and the same thing still happens! :)
