Happy Birthday Liisa!

Everyone else has a birthday post so I guess I should make myself one.  The big 39 was celebrated on Monday.  It's always fun to write 12/13 on my birthday!  Can't wait until 2014 for 12/13/14!

Thanks to all the well-wishers who called or emailed. It was a fine birthday, and I now have 363 days to plan my big 40th birthday party so prepare for a fun event. Mark your calendars for the birthday bash in Moab 2011!
 
Vern travelled from North Carolina to make me birthday biscuits. They were super yummy with the awesome sour wood honey that he "made" or collected from his bees that spent their summer in the NC mountains among the sour wood trees.  Having spent six weeks at Vern's house this summer, I know how much effort goes into collecting honey.  For this honey, he drove the bees over three hours to set their hives in the mountains so they could make sour wood honey.

The birthday cake was brownies layered with chocolate pudding, cool whip and crushed Health bars.  It was super sweet.  It was actually better the next morning when it kind of all soften together but wasn't soggy.  Since my cakes don't require shapes or characters, I try to be a little more adventurous.  Five yellow candles don't mean anything.  Just the number of yellow (my favorite color) candles that we had.

What more could a mom want than her kids singing "Happy Birthday to Mommy!" It was awesome!  Caroline is standing right in front of Courtney in the picture and there was only one picture taken before the candles melted the cool whip and pudding!
