Yesterday we went to Costco with my mom to get us a Costco card. As we approached Alex said, "Is this Sam's Club?" "No, it's Costco, but it's like Sam's Club," I replied. Once inside, Alex looked around and said, "This looks like Sam's Club, Mom." I repeated, "It's like Sam's Club, but it's called Costco." A few minutes later and the next question from Alex "Is Costco Sam's Club's Middle Name?" It's very confusing to have big stores that sell bulk items that look the same.
On the way home from Sam's Costco Club, we drove past a purple building, and Alex looked at it and said, "Boys don't go to that building." (I knew that his reasoning behind the statement was the building was purple and purple is a girl's color). "You're right, boys shouldn't go to that building," I replied. "But I saw trucks by that building, so boys go there, " Alex continued. "What do they do in that building?" Alex asked. Now I was in trouble because the purple building is a gentleman's club that is rumored to be a topless carwash... "Uhhm...they go to that building to say bad words." was all I could come up with. "That is a bad decision to go to that building to say bad words. Those boys made a bad decision like the Lamanites to go to that building." Alex continues. "Their mommies are not happy that they went to that building." I could only agree. "You're right, it's not good to go to the purple building." Alex pauses for a minute...."Why did Jesus make that purple building?" Grandma is in the car and steps in to rescue me. "Jesus only makes temples and churches. He didn't make the purple building."
Hopefully we don't drive past the purple building again anytime soon so the conversation doesn't have to continue. But I'm pretty impressed with his reasoning skills.
And can I just say to the three people who stole my three parking spots today that I was waiting for with my blinker on to turn into them, "It is extremely rude to drive into a parking spot when someone is waiting with their blinker turned on for the car in the spot to back out!" I'd say other words, but then I'd have to go to the purple building to say them:)
Awesome, I can't wait for these conversations!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha...your last paragraph made me laugh, I totally agree it is soo rude. Funny you should write about Alex, I was just thinking of him yesterday and you, thinking he is probably about the age when he says some pretty good things! And I was right!
ReplyDeleteVERY CUTE!
ReplyDeleteGlad you stayed out of the purple building:)!
Those 3 people LOVE you so much, right?
