Caroline is 4!

Four years old!

Hard to believe that it was four years ago when our impatient youngest child showed up 2 1/2 weeks early when Matt was out of state.  It was only an indicator of her personality and desire to get on with life, RIGHT NOW!  I can't imagine who she got this from?  She is an adventure, beloved of her siblings most of the time, and if she is awake, she is moving and talking or maybe talking and moving.  She loves to play pretend with her animals, dolls, action figures, fisher-price people and just about anything she finds.  She is smart as a whip and pulls out words like famished, parched and minuscule when she really wants something.  She strongly dislikes being told no, going to bed, wearing shorts or pants under her dresses, getting lotion on her hands or face, and having her hair combed. She still thinks she is the same age as her older sisters and can hold her own with them on most things.  She loves to eat peanut butter with a spoon from the jar, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, drink milk, and try or taste anything that anyone else is eating.  She doesn't like to sleep alone and still often finds her way into our bed at night or sleeps with Grace.   She prefers skirts and dresses to pants and is going through a phase where she wants to put her pajamas on as early as possible in the day (or not take them off in the morning) "so I don't have to take my clothes off and get ready for bed!"   She knows her letters, sounds and can spell her name. She gets frustrated with writing because her "pencil won't go the right way."  She loves to play soccer, but really wants to take "ballerina classes" when soccer is over.  She loves Alvin and the Chipmunks, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Phineas and Ferb, Strawberry Shortcake, Angelina Ballerina and Barbie movies (especially Princess and the Popstar and Barbie and the Pink Shoes).    She is a blessing to our family and in a unique position as the only biological child.   She wants to know why she can't have a different birth mom and mom.  "Why do I only get the same one, just you?"  she asked.   She also asks why she doesn't have any birth brothers or sisters (all the other kids in our family have a birth sibling).  She made up a story a few months ago that her "grandpa and grandma in the snow were my birth parents and you came to visit them and picked me up from their house and brought me home and adopted me."  (Her grandma and grandpa in the snow are referring to the graves on my great-grandparents Alfred John and Caroline London (one of her Caroline three ancestors she was named for) who we visited on Christmas Eve to put candles on their graves).  It took me a while to figure out who she was talking about.

Ninja turtle cake with cupcakes!

Caroline had wanted a pink guitar cake for over two months.  After I bought everything to make it on Saturday, I came home and she decided that she only wanted a Ninja Turtle cake.  So the pink frosting for the guitar and the red licorice for the strings because "Fearless Leader" Ninja Turtle cake!

She loved the cake so I guess that is the most important thing.  We celebrated her birthday cake on April 21 with some friends since we were going to be in Denver for her actual birthday.

It's my birthday!

It's a birthday party at Krispy Kreme Highlands Ranch!  Lucky for us we were in Denver on April 27 and got to go to Krispy Kreme for Caroline's birthday.  The doughnuts were delicious and we had a great time spending the night before at Karl and Tanya's house (my aunt and uncle).  Tanya even has the same birthday as Caroline.  So nice of them to host us on Tanya's birthday weekend.
