It's Sunday, Feb 21, 2010 and Alex has turned 5 twice already. I guess he'll do it again tomorrow too! He has had a busy birthday weekend with a Friday night date with mom and dad. He chose to go swimming at the YMCA and eat "wormies" aka lo mein at a Chinese restaurant. It was a lot of fun, and he loved being the center of attention. The restaurant brought out a cake for him and he was very surprised. Sorry I forgot the camera.
Saturday Alex had his big birthday party with friends from school, church and the neighborhood. All together we had 10 kids at the birthday party including 4 Alexes(2 boys named Alex and 2 girl Alexandras, one who goes by Alex) at the party. He enjoyed playing musical chairs, "Duck, Duck, Goose, " hitting his pinata, making volcanoes out of playdough and watching them erupt with baking soda and vinegar. Hot dogs, chips, lemonade with cake and ice cream rounded out the party.
Funny Alexisms from the weekend...
-Alex asked when he would turn 5. "When I eat my cake do I turn to 5?"
-Alex didn't want the kids to sing the "Happy Birthday" song before he blew out his candles. He just wanted them to count to three. So they did, in English, in Spanish and Alex said, "French too!"
-At the Chinese restaurant, Alex tried Matt's Diet Coke. He said, "This tastes like hair, or maybe it tastes like candles. It's not good, why do you drink it?"
-Alex was very excited about his birthday date with Mom and Dad and started to plan the next few years. "When I'm 6, I'll go hiking, when I'm 40 I'll go skiing and sledding and when I'm 74 I'll go rock climbing." I can bet mom and dad won't be around for that 74 date:)
Here is Alex on his last few birthdays. We didn't have a digital camera when he was 1 so I didn't dig up those pictures and scan them yet.
